About Cildir Airport
Aydın Çıldır Airport is an airport serving the district of Efeler in the city of Aydın, located in the Aegean Region of Turkey. The airport is approximately 6 kilometers away from the city center of Aydın. In 2012, the operating rights were transferred to the Turkish Airlines Joint Stock Company for a period of 20 years. Currently, it operates under the name of Turkish Airlines Flight Academy and is used for pilot training.
This airport is closed to civil flights and is only used by students receiving flight training. There is no airport open to civil flights in the province of Aydın, with the nearest airport open to civil flights being Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport.
The history of Çıldır Airport begins with the donation of the land for the establishment of an airport by Mustafa Çıldır to the State Airports Administration in 1956. Following this donation, the airport was constructed in 2005 and has been actively used since then.
