Çukurova International Airport (Turkish: Çukurova Uluslararası Havalimanı) is located in the Tarsus district of Mersin Province, southern Turkey. The airport serves the provinces of Mersin and Adana, as well as the broader Çukurova region. It will begin operations on August 10, 2024, taking over and expanding the destinations previously served by Adana Şakirpaşa Airport. The Çukurova region includes the historical area of Cilicia and comprises the Turkish provinces of Adana, Mersin, Osmaniye, and part of Hatay. Due to increasing air traffic, there was a need for a higher capacity airport.
Çukurova International Airport will be utilized by numerous national and international airlines. Major Turkish airlines such as Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, Ajet and SunExpress will operate here, along with several international carriers. The airport will offer regular flights to major Turkish cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, as well as to European countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, there will be an increase in charter flights to popular tourist destinations, especially during the summer months.
Çukurova International Airport features a modern terminal structure with a single terminal serving both domestic and international flights. The terminal offers a wide range of facilities and services to meet passengers' needs, including shopping centers, duty-free shops, cafes, and restaurants. There are also VIP lounges, children's play areas, and relaxation zones to enhance passenger comfort. It is located 7 km from the Yenice railway junction, 14 km from the Çukurova Motorway, and approximately 20 km from Tarsus. Additionally, it is close to the Kazanlı Coast Tourism Project in Mersin Province.
